Kyle Wishes to Walk Fundraiser

Sarah Healy, also known as The Cake Lady, is holding a cake demonstration in the Parish Centre of Corhownagh, Ballisodare, on the 22nd October, in aid of the Kyle Wishes to Walk fund.

Having been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when he was 18 months old, Kyle is now 5 years old.

Currently, he is unable to stand or walk independently. However, Kyle has been given the wonderful opportunity to receive therapy at the First Step Rehabilitation Centre in Patrickswell, Limerick.

The Cake Demonstration event is to help his parents raise the much needed funds for his therapy.

Admission is €5 per person, and will feature a raffle with spot prizes and promises to be a good night for all you prospective bakers.

We at Davis’s Restaurant are delighted to be help sponsor the event with a spot prize of a meal voucher, along with other local businesses, The Cat & the Moon , Shells Café, Radisson Sligo, and many more.  Come along and support on the day!

 

Lissadell Harvest Home Event 2014

Harvest Home Event Lissadell HouseAt Yeats Tavern, we are delighted at the news of Lissadell House extending their open season until the 19th October, to accommodate the Harvest Home event to be held on the grounds.

The revival of the Harvest Home celebrations will centre on events to be enjoyed by all the family. Originally hosted by Sir Robert Gore Booth as a celebration of the summer harvest, the Cassidy’s of Lissadell House return to tradition. Traditionally, the Harvest Home celebration took place in the  Riding Arena for workers and tenants of the Lissadell Estate, and this year the event will be open to the public.

Speaking on Ocean fm, Eddie Walsh outlines the reasons behind hosting the Harvest Home event as being ‘a way to show appreciation for all the people who helped and supported us over the summer and to showcase the best of the North West and the best of Connacht.’

The day long event will feature a range of cooking demonstrations with celebrity chefs, plenty of food and craft stalls, as well as the opportunity to stroll through the house and gardens.

Our restaurant has also undertake to sponsor the Mussel Competition open to all secondary students. Just submit your Mussel recipe to annejmartin@hotmail.com. The judges – our own Damien Davis, and celebrity chefs Joe Shannon and Adrian Martin will select four recipes and invite the finalists to cook their recipes. The winning dish will receive €100 all4one voucher, a Lissadell trophy, a day cooking with celebrity chef Joe Shannon at the Radisson Blu Sligo, while the winning student’s Home Economics teacher will be given a one night stay at the Radisson Blu Sligo + dinner for two in the AA Rosette Award winning restaurant. All remaining three finalists will receive a finalist’s trophy and certificate.

So don’t forget October 19th from 10.30am – 6.00pm is Harvest Home day at Lissadell House!
